Wrapping Up October

Over 150 guests attended Aim Right's banquet on Saturday evening.  Those who came were challenged to engage in changing lives.  Diana Valenzuela (pictured below) shared her testimony of how God has been using Aim Right in her life.
Six girls from Kids Klub shared this song at the banquet; I regret not getting a photo of all six, but two of them are pictured below.  The girls felt so honored to be able to come to a fancy banquet and perform for an audience!

Nancy Loredo and her daughter Helena came to the banquet.  Nancy also shared how God used Aim Right to influence her life's direction.

Finally, here a few photos from a recent Kids Klub.  The children love to arrive a little early so they can play outside.

The Keys to Indigenous Urban Leadership

What are the keys to developing indigenous urban leaders?  Youth for Christ's City Life ministry interviewed several individuals who were at least 18 years old, had grown up in an urban environment, and were seen as vibrant Christian leaders within their urban communities.  Click on the image below to read the full article, and spend some time mulling over the 5 findings and 3 action points.

The Banquet: Are You Coming?

Aim Right's fall banquet is right around the corner!  We hope you remembered to RSVP (if not, give Stephanie a call at 614-561-7497) and have cleared your schedule to attend.  The banquet is this Saturday evening, October 27th, at 6:00 p.m. at the Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort in Phoenix.  For directions, click here.  The banquet will be in the Highland Center.

 The Resort

Please pray that last minute preparations will go smoothly, and that God's hand will be over this event in unmistakable ways!

Looking ahead to next week, we are also excited about this event planned for our Kids Klub children:
Instead of our traditional Fall Festival, we will be hosting "Light up the Night" on Wednesday, October 31st, from 6:00-7:00 p.m. for local children and their families to drop by and enjoy free food and activities, including cotton candy, a bounce house, sparklers, music, and some fun things that glow in the dark.  If you'd like to volunteer to be on a decorating/set up crew, help with an activity, or serve food, please e-mail Amy at amy@aimright.org or call our office at 602-462-1987.  Extra volunteers are always needed!

Finally, some wise words for a Wednesday (or any other day, for that matter).

Somebody Tell Them

The new van is being used on Wednesdays and Fridays for Kids Klub and Teen Night.  I tried taking some photos of the passengers inside, but I don't think you want to see the bottoms of teenagers' shoes!

All of these young ladies live on Portland Street, with the exception of one.  It's a good representation of how most Aim Right connections happen -- someone invites a friend, or neighbor, or cousin to come to church with them.  It's somebody telling somebody else.

Some Photos

Last week's Kids Klub lesson was about Abraham & Sarah.  Children had to guess what gift God gave a 100-year-old man -- a pet rabbit, a new baby, or a bag of gold.  Some had heard the story before and knew the answer; others thought maybe it was a bag of gold.

Since there was no school this week due to fall break, we did not have Kids Klub, but instead encouraged each teacher to spend some time connecting with a few of their students in a special way.  A few of the activities that teachers planned were a tea party, a trip to a local chocolate factory, and a visit to the Children's Museum of Phoenix.  Here are some photos from the museum outing:

The grocery store was a favorite place.  You could be a shopper, a stocker, a cashier, or a warehouse worker.

Some girls made us some yummy pizzas, tacos, and salads out of felt and cloth pieces in the kitchen / pizza oven room.

You're never too young to learn to pump gas!

The "car wash" was another favorite.  It really is astounding how creative and hands-on each exhibit is within the museum.

Special thanks to the Children's Museum for once again blessing us with free admission!

The Mobile Pantry

This morning Aim Right's parking lot was turned into The Mobile Pantry.  Food was delivered by St. Mary's Food Bank, and a small army of volunteers (many of them our neighbors in the community) sorted the fresh produce and then distributed it free of charge to those who came by between 9:00-11:00 a.m.

The Mobile Pantry will be on site again next month on Thursday, November 8th.  If you are available that morning and would like to volunteer, please call our office at (602) 462-1987.

Lord willing...

this will be the newest member of the Aim Right fleet!

Caleb will fly to Las Vegas on Friday to finalize the purchase of the 2008 van and bring it to its new Phoenix home.  Thank you, thank you, thank you to the many of you who gave generously to our Van Fund!
