Aleisha recently helped bring to life an idea I had to shoot photos of kids and teens acting out the Easter story. We are using the images as slides this evening at Kids Club.
Here's what happens when you have six actors and actresses, a lot of Gatorade, a yellow baseball bat, a sheep that wants to make an appearance in nearly every scene, some out-of-control wigs/beards, a black graduation gown, and a beautiful Phoenix spring day!
"A large crowd of Passover visitors took palm branches and went down the road to meet Him. They shouted, 'Praise God!' "
"As they were eating, Jesus took some bread and blessed it. Then He took a cup of wine and gave thanks to God for it. Then He said, 'Take this and share it among yourselves.' "
"They went to an olive grove called Gethsemane, and Jesus said, 'Sit here while I go and pray.' He went on a little farther and fell to the ground. He prayed that, if it were possible, the awful hour awaiting Him might pass Him by."
"The leading priests and Roman soldiers and Temple guards had given Judas a contingent of Roman soldiers and Temple guards to accompany him. Now, with blazing torches, lanterns, and weapons, they arrived at the olive grove."
"The mob shouted louder and louder, demanding that Jesus be crucified, and their voices prevailed. So Pilate sentenced Jesus to die as they demanded."
"Then Pilate had Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip. The soldiers wove a crown of thorns and put it on His head."
"When they came to a place called The Skull, they nailed Him to the cross."
"Joseph bought a long sheet of linen cloth. Then he took Jesus' body down from the cross, wrapped it in the cloth, and laid it in a tomb that had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a stone in front of the entrance."
"Suddenly there was a great earthquake! Then the angel spoke to the women, 'Don't be afraid!' he said. 'I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as He said would happen.' "
