Kids Club Finale

For our last Kids Club before summer break, children enjoyed indoor and outdoor games, eating pizza, and singing a song they've learned quite well by now:  Jump into the Light.

Now we're signing up children for Youth Haven and planning VBS and Teen Camp.

Memorial Day Fun

Tacos.  Inflatables.  Ice cream.  Sunshine and blue skies.  Watermelon.  Teenagers and more teenagers.  Caleb coordinated this epic Memorial Day event for our Aim Right teens as well as Aim Right North youth, but by the end of the evening, the large inflatables had attracted quite a number of folks, from little tots to adults in the neighborhood.

Spaghetti Dinner

Aim Right's Spaghetti Dinner last weekend was a success!  Special thanks to Freda & Co. for the wonderful food, our teen helpers, and all who came to eat noodles and donate funds (over $1,700!) to help send teens to camp.

I think Freda's delectable tapioca pudding is a tradition now!

Hiding God's Word

She came to Kids Club quite excited.

"I know the verse!" she said.

While she did skip a few words in this video, hats off to her for practicing the verse at home and being ready to recite it at Kids Club.

Try this at home...

It's almost summertime, which means this "recipe" is a fabulous one to have in the back of your mind and implement on a blistering day.  It can be healthy, too, since you get to choose the type of juice you use.

You need:

- small (sandwich size) zip-top plastic bags
- large (gallon size) zip-top plastic bags
- ice
- juice
- salt
- spoons
- paper towels or rags
- patience
- bored and/or hungry humans

Let's do this!

1.  Give each human two plastic bags -- one small and one large.

2.  Pour juice into the small bag, about half full.  Seal tightly, trying to get as much air out as possible.

3.  Place the small bag inside the large bag.

4.  Add a good amount of ice and some salt into the large bag.

5.  Seal the large bag and shake it like you mean it or shove it across the table continuously.  Be patient; it takes several minutes.

6.  If bags weren't sealed properly or are of the el cheapo variety, grab your paper towels or rags.  You'll need them by this point!

7.  When the juice has lightened in color and thickened in consistency, remove the small bag from Iceland and enjoy the slushy you just made.

Special thanks to Edwin, who organized this slushy making activity for teens recently.  He also shared with youth about Matthew -- tax collector turned Jesus follower -- and encouraged them that Jesus can change their lives, too.

Trust

Monday's teen Bible study opened with little Madison reciting the fruits of the Spirit.  She was a wonderful example to the "big kids" of how to hide God's Word in your heart!

The Bible study that Caleb led centered on this topic:

He read about Peter's experience of trying to walk on water....

and shared about how God still asks us to trust Him today -- maybe not with walking on water, but in stepping out in obedience to what He asks us to do.
