In addition to nightly VBS at two locations, the New Yorkers have been on the move serving all over the city -- at St. Vincent de Paul, St. Mary's Food Bank (where they were complimented as one of the best volunteer groups the food bank has hosted in awhile), and Garfield Elementary School (where the principal said they were a godsend!).
In addition to serving at those locations, the group has been braving the heat to hand out cold water bottles at bus stops and busy street corners. To date, they have distributed well over 1,000 bottles of water.
Keeping the water cold requires a LOT of ice, but the pack mules are doing a fine job of obtaining it!
