Kids Club Water Night

We were blessed with a pretty mild May, with only four days that reached triple digits. The fact that we might have cooler weather than normal never even crossed our minds as we planned our Kids Club finale -- a water night. You can't see the shivering bodies or the chattering teeth in these photos, but we had some miserable children at the end of the evening. It was breezy and quite pleasant outdoors if you weren't wet but not so pleasant if you were soaked to the bone. Nevertheless, I think the kids did enjoy the water slide, slip-n-slide, and kick ball with water obstacles. We "cooled them down" even more with popsicles before taking them home. Could we be any more cruel?!

The high will be 115 degrees on Saturday, so the summer heat is definitely upon us now. Throughout June, we will be taking several children from both campuses to Youth Haven Ranch and also hosting Vacation Bible School on our downtown campus. Please pray that God will work in children's hearts through these events.  We have many children attending Youth Haven this year who have never been before; it can be scary to be away from home for a week, even if you are with friends. Youth Haven has an amazing staff and camp program, though. It is a great blessing that "our" kids have an opportunity to go there.
